Give Your Employees a Morale Boost | VetFran

For many of us, 2020 was a challenge. Life was hard, and we never quite knew what to expect on any given day.

That means that—for most of us—our morale could use a boost. As a franchisee, you play an important role in helping your employees find their footing during this time.

Read on as our team at VetFran offers some suggestions about how to do that.

Why Is Employee Morale So Important?

Before finding ways to improve morale among employees, you need to know why it is so important in the first place.

When employees feel appreciated in the workplace, their productivity improves. Therefore, high employee morale can lead to increased productivity—a true win-win!

How to Start Improving Employee Morale

There are a number of ways you can enhance morale in the workplace, including communication, recognition and growth opportunities.

Communication

When was the last time you really checked in with your employees? Communication is important in any relationship, and working relationships are no exception.

Talk with your team regularly, and be sure to recognize them as individuals. Communicate about work-related stressors and projects, but also take an active interest in who they are as people, including outside the workplace.

Recognition

Remember how good you felt getting a sticker in elementary school on a school assignment or a star on your chore chart? Not much has really changed since we were younger in terms of wanting to know that we are doing a good job!

Take opportunities regularly to recognize your employees and help make them feel appreciated. It can be something as simple as creating a trophy or sending a thank you note. A little appreciation can go a long way!

Growth Opportunities

We all want to be the best versions of ourselves in life, which includes being the best we can be within our career. While we want to be happy in our job, we also want to know that we have the opportunity to grow in our career, if we so choose.

Boost morale and improve growth among your employees by providing opportunities for promotion, as well as other avenues in which employees can use and grow their professional skills.
